About our patient participation group

We have a proactive Patient Participation Group (PPG) who work with the Practice to help us provide the best possible service to our patients. The Group has been running a few years with a break during the pandemic.

What we do as a Patient Participation Group

• The aim of the PPG is to act as both a route for all registered patients of Albert Road Surgery and Sidley Surgery and “critical friend” to the practice, helping us to understand what patients think about some of the issues that matters most to them and to assist in identifying solutions to problems, and the Practice to implement policies influenced by representative patient views.
• Attend monthly meetings with the Practice Business Manager and other Practice team members as required. The meeting has a wide Agenda covering news of the Practice and local Primary Care Network and Integrated Care Board. Other area Patient Groups’ meetings can also be attended. Members have a wide range a backgrounds from Social Care, Care Homes, Mental Health, community work and have special interests in Dementia services and the menopause.
• Improve both Practice sites for patients’ visits, including reorganising the Waiting Rooms seating and displaying informative and useful information including the display screens, noticeboards and posters with clearly themed areas.
• Feedback comments of patients’ experiences and raise issues for discussion.
• Create and run Patient Surveys in order to get detailed feedback on specific issues such as telephone access to the surgery.
• Make proposals for improvements to Practice services and facilities and work on projects to deliver these.
• Influence decision-making on issues such as the purchasing of equipment
